MerCruiser 8.2 Liter Gas Engine
next Generation big block V-8
marine propulsion with a catalytic converter
The MerCruiser 8.2 liter gas
engine, for inboards and stern drives builds more horsepower and boast more
torque in the midrange than its predecessor. The marine propulsion news gets even better,
exhaust emissions are lower and fuel efficiency is greatly improved. 87
octane gas burns fine. The high performance cylinder heads are
aluminum. A new ring and piston package, which includes special cylinder-bore-honing, minimizes oil consumption.
A real eyebrow raiser is the way the alternator generates 15 amps at idle.
Options include Axius and SeaCore On stern drives you have a choice between
Digital Throttle and Shift, or a mechanical throttle.
Inboard engines get DTS. For boat builders, installation has been greatly
simplified.
